Job Description
Location: Atlanta, GA - Airport-Based
Pay: $48-$53/hour, based on experience and shift
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week
Employment Type: W-2 Contract through Medix
Hiring: Immediate
Medix is hiring experienced Registered Nurses to support a public-health and biosecurity screening initiative within a major international airport in Atlanta.
This is a unique clinical opportunity for an RN who wants to continue using assessment, triage, communication, and patient-care skills in a non-traditional setting outside of bedside hospital nursing.
Available Schedules
Current third-shift openings:
Sunday through Thursday | 10:00 PM-6:30 AM
Tuesday through Saturday | 10:00 PM-6:30 AM
Third-shift opportunities are targeted toward the upper end of the posted pay range.
Candidates must be able to consistently work their assigned fixed schedule.
About the Role
International travelers are initially screened by non-clinical personnel. When additional medical evaluation is needed, the traveler is referred to the Registered Nurse for a focused secondary clinical assessment.
The RN will evaluate symptoms, gather relevant medical history, review screening information, provide education, document clinical findings, and determine whether additional evaluation or escalation to the on-site physician is appropriate.
If further evaluation is required, the traveler may be referred to the physician for physical examination, testing, swabbing, or other clinical intervention.
This role combines independent nursing assessment with established public-health and biosecurity protocols in a fast-paced international airport environment.
What You'll Do
Conduct secondary clinical screenings and focused health assessments
Evaluate symptoms and relevant clinical information
Obtain medical history and additional health information as appropriate
Identify symptoms or findings requiring additional evaluation
Escalate appropriate cases to the on-site physician or clinical team
Provide public-health education and clear instructions to travelers
Accurately document assessments, findings, education, and interventions
Follow established infection-prevention, biosecurity, and safety protocols
Collaborate with physicians and other members of the clinical team
Participate in shift briefings and operational updates
Support additional clinical activities based on operational needs
Qualifications
Required
Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse license applicable to the assignment
Minimum of approximately 2 years of recent clinical RN experience
Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills
Strong verbal communication and documentation skills
Ability to recognize when additional medical evaluation or escalation is appropriate
Comfortable working independently within established clinical protocols
Comfortable working with a diverse international population
Comfortable working in a public-facing airport environment
Comfortable wearing required PPE, including an N95 respirator
Ability to consistently work one of the listed overnight schedules

Experience may include:

Contract Details
The current contract is formally confirmed through January 7, 2027.
The client has communicated that there is a verbal agreement with the government to extend the program for an additional six months, potentially through approximately July 7, 2027.
The program is currently adding additional nursing staff due to increased volume.
The additional extension is not yet finalized in writing and cannot be guaranteed.
Onboarding and Compliance
Because this position supports operations within a secure airport environment, candidates should expect a more comprehensive onboarding and compliance process than a typical nursing assignment.
The full credentialing, background, airport-security, and badging process can realistically take approximately 3-4 weeks.
Candidates do not have to wait until final airport clearance to begin receiving compensation. Required onboarding, compliance, and training activities are paid at the RN's regular hourly rate as applicable.
Candidates should be prepared to remain responsive and complete required documentation, appointments, screenings, and other onboarding items promptly.
The onboarding process may include:
RN license and credential verification
Background investigation
Drug screening
Occupational health requirements
Airport security clearance
Airport badging
Local site orientation before beginning independent shifts
Additional Details
$48-$53/hour based on experience and shift
Weekly payroll
Full-time, 40-hour schedule
W-2 employment through Medix
