\nA leading manufacturer of highly complex automation equipment is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join its Field Service team. This is a fully remote position with extensive travel throughout the United States, supporting sophisticated equipment used in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
\nKey Requirement: Beckhoff or Schneider Experience
\nCandidates must have hands-on experience with Beckhoff or Schneider automation controls, along with strong PLC programming and servo motor/multi-axis motion control experience.
\nPosition Overview
\nIn this role, you will troubleshoot, program, commission, and support advanced automated equipment both remotely and at customer sites. You will work with PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, robotics, vision systems, lasers, and other integrated automation technologies.
\nTravel is significant — up to approximately 30 weeks per year throughout the United States.
\nResponsibilities

- Troubleshoot and resolve controls system and software issues through remote diagnostics and onsite support \n
- Travel extensively to customer sites throughout the U.S. to support equipment installation, troubleshooting, startup, and production \n
- Develop and implement new PLC and HMI software for existing equipment \n
- Program and troubleshoot servo motors and complex multi-axis motion systems \n
- Integrate a variety of automation subsystems, including cameras, lasers, robotics, and other technologies \n
- Perform machine startup, testing, commissioning, and documentation reviews \n
- Maintain detailed software documentation in accordance with GMP guidelines \n
- Provide production support and customer training \n
- Work directly with customers to diagnose technical issues and develop effective solutions \n
Qualifications
\n- \n
- 5–10 years of experience with industrial automation and controls \n
- Hands-on experience with Beckhoff or Schneider automation platforms \n
- Strong experience programming servo motors and multi-axis motion systems \n
- Experience with CODESYS and IEC 61131-2 and/or IEC 61131-3 programming \n
- Experience programming industrial equipment, preferably within the pharmaceutical, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries \n
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered \n
- Experience with Zenon HMI programming \n
- Strong knowledge of VBA and SQL databases \n
- Experience developing and troubleshooting complex automated equipment \n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the creativity and persistence needed to resolve complex technical issues \n
- Excellent communication skills and a strong customer-service mindset \n
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the United States \n
