Job Description
Industrial Electrician
Keep a seasonal food-processing plant and its warehouse operating safely by owning electrical troubleshooting, repair, installation, and code-compliant maintenance while also supporting hands-on mechanical work when electrical demand is low.
The best fit is an industrial or manufacturing electrician who can diagnose live production problems involving wiring, motors, controls, and PLC-connected equipment, is willing to help with mechanical work, and can commit to a demanding seasonal night schedule during pack.
Location: Mayville, Wisconsin
Schedule: Off-pack: Monday-Thursday, 6:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Pack season: night shift on an extended 6x12 schedule, generally 5:45 p.m.-6:15 a.m.; seasonal timing can vary with crop and production needs.
Work Setting: Onsite
Role Type: Direct Placement
Openings: 1
Compensation: Starting at $32.00 per hour; final rate depends on relevant experience, education, and demonstrated skill
Responsibilities
- Own electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, rebuild, and fabrication work for plant and warehouse buildings and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical wiring, motors, motor controls, lighting controls, controllers, and PLC-connected production equipment.
- Enter and work inside electrical panels as the authorized electrical resource, using required electrical-safety and lockout/tagout practices.
- Respond to production breakdowns, determine root causes, and restore equipment safely with minimal downtime.
- Plan new or modified electrical installations to meet specifications, electrical codes, OSHA requirements, and material-efficiency expectations.
- Maintain, install, rebuild, and repair equipment to manufacturer and plant specifications.
- Support mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment repair, startup, and shutdown work when electrical priorities allow.
- Control equipment and supply costs and communicate parts or material needs.
- Follow food-safety requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices, plant policies, and safety rules.
- Work closely with mechanics, operators, warehouse staff, supervisors, vendors, and leadership during both pack and off-pack operations.
Qualifications
- Hands-on industrial, manufacturing, processing, or closely related electrical maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot wiring, electrical motors, controls, and industrial equipment rather than only perform new construction.
- Working knowledge of electrical codes, OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout, and safe electrical-panel practices.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist with non-electrical equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to work onsite in Mayville and reliably support the seasonal schedule, including pack-season nights and extended hours.
- Ability to read electrical drawings, manuals, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Clear written and verbal communication and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two- or three-year electrical, electromechanical, automation, or industrial-maintenance certificate or degree; candidates actively working toward a relevant credential may be considered.
- PLC troubleshooting experience, particularly diagnosing field devices, I/O, controls, and equipment faults.
- Food, beverage, packaging, agricultural processing, or other high-throughput manufacturing experience.
- Experience supporting both plant production equipment and warehouse/building electrical systems.
