Develop the athlete. Build the competitor. Prepare the body for the demands of the game.

Tennis Central is seeking an exceptional Tennis Strength & Performance Coach to become an integral part of our high-performance academy environment.

We are looking for more than a traditional strength coach. We want a performance professional who understands that developing a tennis athlete requires a unique combination of speed, strength, explosiveness, movement quality, endurance, coordination, durability and recovery—all built around the demands of the tennis court.

The right candidate will bring proven expertise and an established record of helping athletes improve. Just as importantly, they will embrace our academy philosophy and work collaboratively with our tennis coaching team to build stronger, faster, more resilient competitors.

THE ROLE

The Strength & Performance Coach will lead the physical-development component of our academy and integrate seamlessly into the players' overall training pathway.

Rather than bringing a fixed program and asking our athletes to fit into it, this coach will adapt and build their curriculum around the needs of our academy, our coaching methodology, and the developmental stage of each athlete.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design and deliver tennis-specific strength and conditioning programs for developing and competitive junior players.
  • Develop athletic qualities including acceleration, deceleration, lateral movement, change of direction, rotational power, strength, speed, mobility, coordination and stamina.
  • Create age- and developmentally appropriate programming for athletes at different stages of physical maturation.
  • Conduct athlete assessments and establish measurable performance benchmarks.
  • Track progress and demonstrate tangible improvement over time.
  • Incorporate injury-risk reduction, movement quality, mobility, recovery and physical durability into the curriculum.
  • Work directly with academy leadership and tennis coaches to coordinate physical training with technical training, match play and competition schedules.
  • Adjust workloads during tournament periods and throughout the different phases of the competitive season.
  • Help educate players on the habits required to become serious athletes, including preparation, recovery, discipline and accountability.
  • Bring energy and purpose to every session and create an environment in which athletes want to work hard and discover what they are capable of becoming.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking someone who has already demonstrated excellence, not simply someone interested in entering the field.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Recognized and current strength & conditioning/performance credentials appropriate to the role, with CSCS or comparable high-level certification strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • Appropriate professional liability insurance and all other insurance/credentialing required to perform the role.
  • A demonstrated history of producing measurable results with athletes.
  • Experience working with competitive junior, collegiate, professional or high-performance athletes.
  • Strong understanding of the physical demands and movement patterns of tennis; direct tennis-performance experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of youth physical development and the ability to appropriately train athletes through different stages of growth and maturation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with tennis coaches, players and parents.
  • The humility to integrate into an established academy rather than operate as a separate program.
  • High standards of professionalism, reliability, preparation and athlete care.
AVAILABILITY

This is an academy-based position and therefore requires availability when our athletes train.

Candidates must be prepared to work after-school hours during the week and on weekends, with additional opportunities during school breaks, camps and intensive training periods.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our objective is not simply to produce stronger tennis players.

It is to develop complete athletes capable of handling the physical and competitive demands of increasingly serious tennis.

We believe the best performance coach becomes part of the player's development team—working alongside the tennis coaches, understanding what is happening on court, identifying what is limiting the athlete physically, and building the body required for the player's game to evolve.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to build and lead the physical-performance culture within an ambitious tennis academy and have a meaningful impact on athletes during some of the most important years of their development.

We are looking for someone who can help our athletes move better, become stronger, compete longer—and ultimately discover a higher ceiling for themselves.
