Medical Assistant Supervisor Job Description
As a professional and patient-focused Medical Assistant Supervisor, you will lead patient
support, coordinate medical operations, and ensure smooth clinic workflow. The role
requires strong leadership, organizational, and clinical support skills. The supervisor must
balance operational efficiency with high standards of patient care and confidentiality.

Technical and Clinical Skills
As a professional and patient-focused Medical Assistant Supervisor, you will lead patient
support, coordinate medical operations, and ensure smooth clinic workflow. The role
requires strong leadership, organizational, and clinical support skills. The supervisor must
balance operational efficiency with high standards of patient care and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical and Clinical Skills
- Lead, Supervise, and Evaluate the MA Team: Deploy training, retraining, and skills assessment to maintain required performance of all MA’s
- Facilitate team meetings and communicate changes in procedures or policies
- Increase employee motivation, retention, and engagement by providing ongoing coaching; promote teamwork within and outside of the clinical area
- Function as the troubleshooter regarding daily clinical support staff issues and proactively establish lasting change and procedures to prevent future issues
- Patient Flow & Support: Assist with scheduling patient appointments, answering phones, keeping providers informed of changes, and informing patients of their benefits
- Medical Support: Assist providers with basic medical care and procedures, manage patient charts, and prepare for visits by pulling notes and setting up equipment
- Inventory & Supplies: Stock and maintain medical and oice supplies in patient rooms and other clinic areas
- Equipment Management: Set up, test, and maintain medical equipment; clean and
sanitize instruments and rooms
- Administrative Duties: Track lab results, call in prescriptions, handle basic office tasks, and maintain confidential patient information
- Confidentiality: Protect patient rights by maintaining strict confidentiality of medical records
- Compliance: Ensure the observance of policies, procedures, and safety practices, including OSHA and HIPAA regulations
Qualifications & Skills - Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: 1 year of medical office experience in clinical support, medical support, or related fields preferred; medical running or EMR experience is a plus
- Skills: Strong customer service, excellent organizational and time management abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other productivity software; familiarity with medical documentation systems
- Soft Skills: Professionalism, empathy, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or BLS certification preferred
- Meets expectations of the core competencies: communication, customer service, ethical and legal requirements, infection control, medial office procedures, and
safety - *Ability to lift up to 25 lbs; prolonged sitting/standing and walking long distances
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Other duties as assigned
