Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment in a metal fabrication manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for supporting equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, production quality, and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
- Maintain equipment including stamping presses, CNC machines, robotic welding cells, conveyors, and other manufacturing machinery.
- Diagnose equipment failures and determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Complete and document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used in the maintenance management system.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and machining repairs as needed.
- Assist with equipment installation, setup, validation, and modifications.
- Support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), continuous improvement, and 5S initiatives.
- Identify equipment issues that could affect product quality or production.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and work instructions.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and all company, OSHA, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Support quality systems and manufacturing standards, including IATF 16949 requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical degree, apprenticeship, or journeyman certification preferred.
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing, metal fabrication, or a similar production environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, presses, tooling, and mechanical power transmission.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting experience with motors, sensors, and safety circuits.
- PLC troubleshooting exposure preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- MIG, TIG, or Stick welding experience preferred.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, CMMS systems, PFMEA, Control Plans, or IATF 16949 is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift approximately 40–50 lbs. using proper lifting techniques.
- Ability to bend, stoop, push, pull, and perform physically demanding maintenance work.
- Ability to stand and work on concrete surfaces for extended periods, including shifts of up to 10 hours.
- Comfortable working around noise, heat, moving machinery, and other typical manufacturing conditions.
- Must be willing to work overtime, flexible hours, or rotating shifts as required.
