Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 12 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).
• Experience with Epic is required.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed.
• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Anyone currently working at this facility cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:
References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.
Required Skills/Experience: Must have total joint experience. Understanding of PCA pumps, reversal drugs (Narcan), sepsis management, TPN/lipids, and narcotic usage. 1 year of surgical experience required.
Unit Details: LPNs are available, and virtual admission/discharge nurses assist; the primary care nursing model is frequently used. Common cases include laminectomy, cervical fusion, LESI, ostomies, hernia repair, total hip/knee replacements, fem-pop bypass, dialysis catheter insertions, BKA/AKA, epidurals, IV antibiotics, chronic pain/narcotic management, sepsis, and urgent OR cases. RNs titrate heparin drips per protocol. A tele monitor tech is available, and RNs interpret their own strips; telemetry monitors are Draeger. Respiratory support includes CPAP (home unit), possible Airvo, and occasional BiPAP; RT manages. CNAs are available but may be pulled to sitters; nights have greater CNA needs. Charge takes a smaller assignment to assist. Fast-paced unit with heavy patients; can receive 8-12 surgery admits per day while also discharging patients.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. Holiday rotation with core staff. No call or standby requirement.
Special Requests: Block scheduling is not guaranteed; discuss scheduling needs with the unit leader.
Floating Requirements: Float to like units only. If floated to a higher acuity unit, assignment would be as a helper without taking a patient load.
14 days maximum time off
1 Charge/Lead/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months
