Compensation: $200,000 - $300,000 Base Salary + Substantial Performance Bonuses

Robert Half Legal is partnering with a highly respected and nationally recognized construction law practice seeking a Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney to join its Seattle office.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced attorney who enjoys handling sophisticated construction disputes, advising industry-leading clients, and serving as a key contributor to one of the region's premier construction law teams. The practice represents owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, and sureties on some of the most complex construction projects in the United States and internationally. The firm's construction group is recognized among the nation's leading construction law practices and regularly advises clients through every phase of the project lifecycle, from contract negotiation to dispute resolution.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-value construction litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters.
• Manage cases from inception through trial, arbitration hearing, settlement, or appeal.
• Handle complex claims involving:
• Construction delays and disruptions
• Impact and acceleration claims
• Design errors and omissions
• Cost overruns
• Mechanic's liens and payment disputes
• Performance and payment bond claims
• Bid protests
• Insurance coverage disputes
• Indemnity and risk-allocation issues
• Draft and argue substantive motions in state and federal court.
• Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses, experts, project managers, engineers, and corporate representatives.
• Develop litigation and dispute-resolution strategies aligned with clients' business and project objectives.
• Work closely with construction industry stakeholders to evaluate risk and develop practical solutions.
• Represent clients in mediation, arbitration, and negotiated settlements.
• Mentor associates and collaborate with multidisciplinary legal teams.
• Participate in client development and industry networking initiatives.

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

• Active admission to the Washington State Bar or eligibility to obtain admission.

• At least 8 years of experience in commercial litigation, or other complex business disputes.

• Demonstrated ability to manage sophisticated cases independently and maintain strong client relationships.

• Proven skill in motion practice, written advocacy, discovery, and deposition work.

• Experience handling arbitration, mediation, or other alternative dispute resolution processes.

• Strong legal research, analytical reasoning, and drafting capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Trial or first-chair arbitration experience.
• Experience representing contractors, owners, developers, design professionals, or sureties.
• Familiarity with design-build, public works, and large-scale commercial construction projects.
• Experience handling claims involving delays, defects, productivity losses, and contract interpretation.
• Existing industry relationships or portable business is welcomed but not required.
