We are looking for a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair our industrial machinery.

Electric/Hydraulic/Diesel Mechanic
  • Technicians, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel and natural gas engines. This role is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and providing quality repairs of engine mechanical failures.
  • Your responsibilities will include ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines, and mechanical systems.
  • Heavy Equipment Mechanic responsibilities include performing major and minor repairs, conducting regular preventative maintenance on machines, engines, and mechanical equipment, and diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment.
  • Our ideal candidates have a deep understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
  • Ultimately, the role of the Heavy Equipment Mechanic is to ensure that all our machinery and equipment are functional and safe to use.

Responsibilities

  • Perform major and minor repairs on heavy equipment/rental construction equipment and trucks.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance tasks on equipment
  • Use diagnostic tools to test vehicle components and identify necessary repairs.
  • Work with operators to understand any issues and problems with the machinery.
  • Use hydraulic jacks or hoist, as required, to complete repair jobs.
  • Keep logs of work and report any issues.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good condition.
  • Comply with safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe workspace.

Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components of heavy equipment and trucks.
  • Ability to handle various tools (e.g. pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g. lift).
  • Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
  • Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work long shifts and overnight.
  • Diploma from a Trade School or relevant certification.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or GED
Experience working on Mcelroy equipment preferred
• Minimum 2 years previous experience operating 1 ton trucks with up to 48ft gooseneck trailers
• Knowledge of polyethylene pipe and fusion equipment is a plus
• Prior experience operating commercial vehicles and a clean driving record

• Normal operating hours and days; Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
• 40+ hours/week required according to the needs of the department.
• Occasional short- and long-term travel
