Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Location

Peoria, IL | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit with a common census including MI, CHF, A-fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
• Maintain night shift nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6, collaborating with PCTs and a 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor
• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring using Philips telemetry systems; independently read and interpret EKG strips
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per protocol
• Manage patients requiring CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen in applicable circumstances
• Float to other general medical units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the IL licensure application process has been initiated
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Experience with medication titration, including vasoactive and anticoagulant drips
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification (recommended)
• Prior experience in a telemetry, step-down, or cardio thoracic nursing setting
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patients
• Previous experience at a facility within this health system
