Contract | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 or 48 hours per week accepted | 13–26 week contracts accepted

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including diabetes, COPD, sepsis, CHF, GI bleed, renal failure, and various surgical recovery cases
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry rhythms remotely; manage and respond to dysrhythmias and initiate Rapid Response/Code team protocols as needed
• Perform and manage IV therapy including central lines, PICC lines, peripheral lines, phlebotomy, and blood product administration; administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Provide respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP management, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Deliver wound care including wound vac management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and chest tube management
• Float as needed to the main campus facility, approximately 32 minutes away; contract staff are expected to participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters

Required Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or MS/Telemetry nursing experience
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be available to work every other weekend and 2 of 3 major holidays; no block schedules unless a weekend block
• Local candidates are welcome; candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at the applicable local rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification and prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with post-angiogram care, post-cardiac surgery, post-MI, IV insulin protocols, bariatric surgery, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), tracheostomy care, CVA management, and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Familiarity with accessing and managing ports, surgical drains, and substance withdrawal protocols
• Community hospital experience and proficiency with electronic documentation systems
