Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 4x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Every other weekend expected (approximately 6 weekend shifts per contract)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 26-bed orthopedic spine unit specializing in spinal surgeries, including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies, with integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support
• Manage a diverse patient population with diagnoses including Med/Surg, Telemetry, cardiac, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE
• Assist with and monitor special procedures including bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post renal biopsy, CT Angio, and Heparin drips
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6 while delivering safe, evidence-based nursing care
• Float to other units or campuses as needed based on census, limited to areas where documented competencies have been established
• Complete required pre-assignment modules and annual compliance requirements within designated timeframes

Required Qualifications

• Active South Carolina RN license or valid multistate (compact) RN license — pending licenses are not accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in an orthopedic or Med/Surg Telemetry setting
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Must meet facility radius eligibility requirements — locals may be accepted; refer to submittal guidelines for applicable radius criteria

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with spinal surgery patient populations, including pre- and post-operative orthopedic care
• Familiarity with Heparin drip management and telemetry monitoring
• Prior travel nursing experience welcomed — first-time travelers are considered
