Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Renal

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including AKI, CKD, ESRD, diabetes, COPD exacerbation, GI bleed, PVD/PAD, wound infections, and cellulitis
• Support patients undergoing general surgical procedures such as cholecystectomy, appendectomy, wound debridement, and amputation
• Monitor and manage patients requiring dialysis access, including clotted AV fistulas and peritoneal dialysis in coordination with the dialysis nurse
• Utilize special equipment including remote telemetry monitoring, wound vacs, Pyxis, and EPIC
• Float to other units as needed; agency staff are pulled first per facility policy
• Be prepared to participate in an emergency response team and report as assigned by unit management in the event of an emergency

Required Qualifications

• Active Compact or Louisiana RN license in hand at time of submittal
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required; renal experience strongly preferred
• ACLS certification required (AHA)
• BLS certification required (AHA)
• NURSYS report must be submitted with profile and current within 4 weeks of submission date
• Must live more than 65 miles from the facility (as measured from address on driver's license to facility address) to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for renal patients requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
• Familiarity with SBAR communication framework and EPIC electronic health records
• Experience with central line care and dialysis access management
