Occupational Therapist (OT) Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our acute care team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in treating adult and geriatric patients and demonstrate proficiency in various rehabilitation techniques.
Shift DetailsThis position involves 8-hour shifts from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., primarily on weekdays with occasional weekend coverage as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Provide occupational therapy services within the acute care setting.
- Float between like units as necessary while maintaining scope of practice.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and reassessments of patients.
- Implement and modify treatment plans based on individual patient needs.
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic activities and adaptive equipment.
- Ensure a high standard of care for acutely ill patients across various diagnoses.
- Utilize appropriate lifting and transfer techniques in patient care.
- 3 years or more of experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Valid Maryland OT state license required upon submission.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Experience in CVA rehabilitation, dementia/Alzheimer’s care, spinal cord injury, and upper-extremity conditions.
- Familiarity with hip fractures/total hip replacements and knee injuries/total knee replacements.
- Demonstrated ability in patient and family education.
- Experience conducting adult adaptive equipment assessments and cognitive evaluations.
- Orientation consists of approximately 40 hours of training.
- One pre-approved time-off request is permitted per contract.
- No block schedule accommodations are available.
- Travelers will not be redirected unless submitted to the wrong discipline.
- Scrub color required is wine/burgundy.
- Charting system used: PowerChart/Cerner.
