Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Diesel Shop Technician to join our team. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered trucks, trailers, and equipment to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting mechanical problems, takes pride in quality work, and can work independently while contributing to a fast-paced shop team.
What You'll DoAs a Diesel Shop Technician, you will:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, and equipment.
- Service engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and related components.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
- Perform DOT inspections and help ensure equipment meets applicable safety requirements.
- Complete preventative maintenance according to established schedules and manufacturer guidelines.
- Accurately document repairs, labor performed, and parts used.
- Communicate needed repairs and safety concerns to shop leadership.
- Assist with roadside repairs and emergency breakdowns as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- Follow company safety procedures and established work practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or trade school training preferred.
- At least 2 years of diesel technician or mechanic experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrain systems, and electrical diagnostics.
- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, high-quality work.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL preferred, or willingness to obtain one.
- ASE certifications are a plus but are not required.
