Machine Shop Machinist

Job Title: Machine Shop Machinist Location: South Plainfield, NJ

Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: $24 to $28/hour, depending on experience Work Model: Onsite Hours: Monday through Friday (9AM to 5PM)

Summary: We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Machinist to support our internal machine shop and engineering teams. This position may be full-time or part-time, and experienced retired machinists are welcome to apply. Responsibilities:

• Operate machine shop equipment to fabricate, modify, and repair precision parts, fixtures, and components for Fab equipment and engineering needs
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, dimensions, and tolerances
• Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and quality
• Work directly with engineers and technicians to understand requirements and develop practical machining solutions
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized machine shop
• As our needs grow, support the expansion and development of a more comprehensive internal machine shop capability

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of hands-on machining experience preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated machining skills
• Ability to independently read engineering drawings and fabricate parts to required dimensions and tolerances
• Strong craftsmanship, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
• Machinist certification, apprenticeship, or technical/vocational training preferred
