Elite Manufacturing and Professional Services is seeking an experienced Shop Mechanic to perform inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of light, medium, and heavy construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, experience with diesel-powered equipment, and the ability to identify and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
Job Responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose construction and heavy equipment for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment including loaders, excavators, backhoes, dozers, and other construction machinery.
- Repair or replace worn or damaged components, including engines, transmissions, bearings, pistons, and other major equipment parts.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, and equipment inspections.
- Use computerized diagnostic tools, hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to identify and repair problems.
- Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other equipment components.
- Perform safety inspections and ensure equipment is operating properly and safely.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance performed, and parts used.
- Perform welding or soldering as needed for repairs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and equipment manufacturer guidelines.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a heavy equipment, diesel, automotive, or industrial mechanic.
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, mechanical systems, and electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical problems.
- Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment is preferred.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment.
- Welding or soldering experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift heavy parts and work in physically demanding positions.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
- CDL is a plus.
- Ability to provide and properly maintain personal tools.
Work Environment
This is a shop-based mechanic position working primarily indoors in a professional equipment repair environment. The work may involve exposure to noise, dust, grease, oils, machinery, and electrical hazards. The position requires frequent lifting, bending, climbing, standing, and working in awkward or difficult positions.
