Job Summary
My Next Career Path Staffing is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to set up and operate manual machining equipment to manufacture, repair, and modify precision metal components. The ideal candidate will have strong experience operating manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and related machine-shop equipment and be able to work accurately from blueprints, drawings, and specifications..
Key Responsibilities
  1. Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and other machine-shop equipment.
  2. Mazak Lathes, Bridgeport Manual Mills and Cincinnati OD Grinders 
  3. Experience working with carbon steel, aluminum, and exotic metals
  4. Machine parts to required dimensions and tolerances according to blueprints and specifications.
  5. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and work instructions.
  6. Determine proper speeds, feeds, tooling, and machining sequences.
  7. Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, tapping, milling, and related machining operations.
  8. Measure finished parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  9. Inspect parts throughout the machining process to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  10. Select, install, and properly position cutting tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
  11. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using shop mathematics.
  12. Troubleshoot machining problems and make necessary adjustments.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. 3+ years of manual machining experience preferred.
  3. Strong experience operating manual lathes and milling machines.
  4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  5. Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, speeds, feeds, and tolerances.
  6. Proficient with micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.
  7. Strong understanding of shop mathematics, including fractions, decimals, and basic geometry.
  8. Ability to work with close tolerances and produce precision components.
  9. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  10. Experience working with carbon steel, aluminum, and exotic metals.
  11. Experience with large manual lathes and mills.
