Imaging/CT Technologist Job Description

The Imaging Technologist is responsible for producing clinical diagnostic x-ray images and performing routine diagnostic procedures as prescribed by physicians. All tasks will be executed while adhering to safety standards and protocols.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality x-ray and CT images of specified body areas as directed by the physician or radiologist.
• Implement proper radiation protection measures.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) to generate and complete exam orders.
• Perform, record, and analyze quality control (QC) data to maintain accuracy and precision in diagnostic imaging.
• Ensure a safe and efficient working environment through regular equipment checks and cleaning protocols.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Enhance clinical competency and professional knowledge by engaging in ongoing education and training.
• Transport patients as needed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for image release and transmission.
• Conduct x-ray procedures using portable machines as required.
• Propose process improvements to enhance operational efficiencies.
• Uphold and promote company values in all interactions.
• Report supply needs to maintain uninterrupted testing operations.
• Collaborate with other departments to enhance patient and staff experiences.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Completion of a JRCERT approved radiological training program or equivalent is required.
• Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
• ARRT certification in Radiography (R.T.) is required; C.T. certification or willingness to obtain it is also required.
• Current Iowa Radiologic Technologist Permit to Practice is required.
• BLS certification is required.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

• Ability to sit for less than 1 hour and stand for 7-8 hours per workday.
• Walking for an average of 6-7 hours per workday.
• Frequent bending and squatting (20-30 times per day).
• Ability to reach above shoulder level frequently.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed; handle awkward weights exceeding 100 lbs as necessary.
• Perform repetitive actions with fine dexterity consistently.

Minimum Years of Experience

Less than 1 year of relevant experience is acceptable.

Certifications/Requirements

• BLS/BCLS certification is required.
• ARRT certification in CT and RT is necessary.
