Occupational Therapist – Acute Care

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Days | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch break; one weekend day per month expected
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate, plan, coordinate, administer, and supervise occupational therapy treatments to restore functional abilities, relieve pain, and prevent or minimize disability using client-centered, evidence-based practice
- Provide age-specific OT services across all patient populations, including therapeutic exercise, splinting, modalities, and self-care training
- Complete all required patient care documentation — including evaluations, daily notes, re-evaluations, discharge summaries, and Medicare forms — accurately and within established timeframes
- Educate and communicate with patients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members including physical therapy, speech therapy, nursing, and physicians
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and OT students in accordance with the applicable practice act and Medicare guidelines
- Participate in departmental quality assurance initiatives, policy and procedure reviews, and Swing Bed activity supervision
- Active Occupational Therapist license issued by the State of Nebraska
- Certification to administer Electrotherapeutic Agents, Deep Thermal Agents, and Superficial Thermal Agents required
- Active BLS certification issued through the American Heart Association required
- Reliable personal transportation is necessary — rideshare services are not available in this location
- 1–2 years of experience in a rural healthcare setting preferred; new graduates will be considered
- Experience supervising COTAs and/or OT student interns
- Familiarity with departmental quality assurance processes and interdisciplinary collaboration in an acute care environment
