Job DescriptionThe Occupational Therapist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients in compliance with licensure standards. They work with an interdisciplinary team to contribute to patient goal development, care planning, and identifying barriers to discharge. The therapist provides patient-centered care and ensures education for patients and their families on treatment procedures, assistive devices, home programs, and other relevant health topics.
Responsibilities- Select and perform evaluation and treatment methods tailored to the patient’s age, diagnosis, symptoms, and physician orders.
- Orient patients, families, and/or other appropriate parties to the purpose and procedures of therapy evaluations and treatments.
- Provide appropriate patient education, family teaching, and support based on individual needs.
- Coordinate treatment schedules with other disciplines using established scheduling procedures.
- Monitor program effectiveness and outcomes, initiating the development of new programs as needed.
- Conduct pain assessments and respond according to standard operating procedures.
- Obtain and document all required and pertinent patient information, including precautions and initial care plans.
- Participate with the interdisciplinary team in developing and documenting discharge plans.
- Identify significant changes in patient conditions and take appropriate actions regarding reporting and documentation.
- Provide clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants in a collaborative manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental needs.
- Occupational Therapist license from the North Dakota State Board of Occupational Therapy.
- National Board Certified Occupational Therapist (NBCOT) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- New graduates with inpatient/outpatient experience will be considered; 2+ years of experience preferred.
