Field Safety & Training Assistant
Position Summary
The Field Safety & Training Assistant supports the company's safety and compliance programs through administrative assistance, data management, training delivery and field crew oversight supporting Helton Electric, a IMMEC company. This role plays a key part in maintaining employee and company records, supporting incident investigations, and ensuring field crew safety through observations, assessments and frequent site inspections.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable with data entry/computer systems as well as comfortable working in a field-based environment, and has a strong working knowledge of utility distribution policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Orientation
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and onboarding sessions. Including, but not limited to: classroom training and orientation, in-field assessments for various utility positions (i.e. Class A vs Class B linemen, groundmen, operators, etc.), new-hire assessments, etc.
  • Present safety training programs to employees in classroom and group settings.
  • Prepare training materials and assist with class setup and coordination.
  • Schedule and track required online training programs.
  • Maintain accurate training records and certifications.
  • Ensure shop and mobile equipment training documentation is completed and uploaded properly.
  • Assist in development and revision of safety procedures and site-specific safety plans.
Data Entry & Documentation Management
  • Scan, upload, and maintain training records in company systems (e.g., Quickbase, ISN, Avetta or similar).
  • Track and schedule client-required online training.
  • Upload Certificates of Insurance (COIs), policies, and client-requested documentation.
  • Track Job Safety Analysis (JSA) completions and equipment inspections daily.
  • Maintain electronic and physical safety files.
  • Print and assemble foreman binders and training packets as needed.
Reporting & Compliance Support
  • Conduct and document inspections (field crew inspections, equipment, materials, etc.)
  • Assist with incident investigations, including documentation and report preparation.
  • Ensure hazardous waste is properly labeled and coordinate disposal.
  • Support safety reporting and documentation efforts.
  • Assist with compliance tracking across multiple crews or job sites.
Inventory & Equipment Support
  • Monitor, stock, and issue Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with documentation and distribution of dieletric tested materials, inventory expiration dates, crew swapping schedules, etc.
  • Assist with mobile and shop equipment dielectric inspection records and documentation.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in an administrative, safety, training, or compliance-related role preferred OR experienced utility line worker with 3+ years' experience in overhead or underground transmission and/or distribution
  • OSHA Construction 10 or 30 Hour
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Strong data entry and document management skills.
  • Experience using databases or tracking systems (Quickbase, ISN, Avetta, or similar platforms preferred).
  • Experience training and presenting in front of large groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Must be able to meet MVR requirements to drive company vehicle
  • Experience in overhead and/or underground utility distribution or transmission with a strong working knowledge of distribution safety policies and procedures (i.e. cover-up, minimum approach, grounding, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of OSHA documentation or compliance processes.
  • Familiarity with safety training coordination.
  • Experience assisting with incident investigations
  • Experience hauling truck and enclosed utility trailer
  • BLS Instructor Certification
  • Bucket/Aerial Rescue Instructor
  • Competent Person Certification(s)
Work Environment
Combination of office and shop/field environment.
May require standing, sitting or driving for extended periods of time.
Frequent interaction with employees at all levels of the organization.


Compensation details: 25-30 Hourly Wage
