Northwell Health is seeking a full-time Chair of Surgery at Peconic Bay Medical Center. The candidate should have 10+ years of experience. Previous leadership experience is preferred.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead and grow a surgical department serving Long Island's East End community. The qualified candidate will oversee a collaborative environment with experienced surgical colleagues and advanced practice providers.

Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all employed and independent physicians within the Department of Surgery

  • Maintain an active clinical practice while supporting departmental growth and development

  • Develop engagement, alignment, and collaboration among department members and with other clinical departments across the health system

  • Lead initiatives focused on quality, patient safety, operational excellence, and program development

  • Advance departmental growth through strategic planning, recruitment, and service line expansion

  • Partner with hospital and system leadership on administrative, financial, and operational priorities

  • Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, diversity, and physician engagement

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution

  • Board Certification in General Surgery (subspecialty certification a plus)

  • Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of New York

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within an academic or clinically integrated health system environment

  • A proven track record of clinical excellence, physician engagement, and program growth
