Job Description
We are seeking a reliable CDL Class B Truck Driver / Store Assistant to join our team in Big Bend, WI. This dual-role position performs local hot run deliveries to regional customers and supports daily store operations, including warehousing, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and customer service. You will work closely with the Store Manager, external shipping carriers, and professional delivery drivers to ensure accurate, safe, and timely product distribution.
Responsibilities
- Perform local hot run deliveries of products to customer locations around the Big Bend area.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip forklift and delivery truck inspections to ensure vehicle safety.
- Unload and load commercial trucks, using proper lifting equipment for heavy loads.
- Assist walk-in and call-in customers, fulfilling requests, answering inquiries, and exchanging customer cylinders.
- Receive incoming inventory, check shipments into Epicor Prophet 21 and TrackAbout software systems, and stock warehouse shelves.
- Pull, pack, and stage customer orders while accurately preparing shipping slips and delivery documents.
- Process cash and credit card over-the-counter transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
- Maintain clean, organized warehouse operations adhering to 5S lean principles.
- Partner with the Store Manager to monitor inventory control, reorder points, and stocking guidelines.
- Participate in safety meetings and enforce OSHA compliance, company safety protocols, and hazardous materials standards.
- Perform store opening and closing duties as required.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A or CDL Class B commercial driver license (required) with Hazmat (Hazardous Materials) and Air Brake endorsements. (must obtain endorsements within 30 days)
- Active Forklift Certification or license (preferred but we will train if needed)
- Clean motor vehicle record (MVR) demonstrating a safe driving history.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and maneuver heavy materials up to 500 pounds using proper material handling equipment.
- Ability to work comfortably in diverse indoor and outdoor weather conditions, navigate ladders and stairs, and bend, reach, or maneuver equipment.
- Proficiency with computers, cell phones, GPS navigation systems, and inventory tracking tools.
Equipment Used
- Class B commercial delivery truck, forklift, hand cart, hand tools, computer, cell phone, GPS navigation system, and calculator.
Work Hours
- Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional before-hours or after-hours work required.
