Electrical Engineer – Medical Robotics

12-Month+ Contract | 1st Shift | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM


Our client, a global leader in the medical device industry, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the development of a next-generation surgical robotic platform. This hands-on role will focus on electrical subsystem development, PCBA design, system integration, testing, and troubleshooting while working closely with Software, Systems, Mechanical, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design and development for a major robotic subsystem.
  • Translate system requirements into electrical designs, interfaces, and specifications.
  • Design complex PCBAs, including schematics, component selection, and rigid, flex, and rigid-flex boards.
  • Perform PCB layout reviews, board bring-up, characterization, testing, and debugging using Altium.
  • Integrate electrical hardware with embedded software, mechanical components, and system-level architecture.
  • Evaluate technical tradeoffs involving performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and risk.
  • Develop verification and EMC test strategies and support external laboratory testing.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and multidisciplinary system issues.
  • Support design documentation, risk management, design transfer, and commercialization activities.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional electrical engineering experience.
  • Advanced PCBA design experience, including schematic design, component selection, layout review, board bring-up, and debugging.
  • Proficiency with Altium.
  • Experience with rigid, flex, or rigid-flex PCB designs.
  • Experience integrating electrical hardware with software and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design, testing, troubleshooting, and design for manufacturability.
  • Experience developing complex electromechanical, robotic, medical, or similarly sophisticated products.
  • Experience supporting products from requirements and concept development through verification, design transfer, and commercialization.
  • Medical device experience with design controls, risk management, IEC 60601, or DHF documentation.
  • Strong communication, technical decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
