Position: Senior Estimator 

Client: NJ public-works general contractor

Location: On-site- Towaco, NJ 

Compensation & Structure:

Base:  $170,000–$185,000, commensurate with experience and the strength of the book. 

Benefits: Employer-paid employee medical (Horizon BCBSNJ), dental offered, Simple IRA with employer match up to 3%, company-paid $30,000 life, PTO (two weeks to start) plus paid holidays.

Goal:

Looking for a Senior Estimator to own Our Client’s public-works estimating end to end, from the bid decision through coverage, pricing, bid day, and award.

About:

·       Our client is an established New Jersey public-works general contractor. We run a lean, subcontract-driven model. Our competitive edge is documents, coverage, and relationships, not self-perform.

·       Our lane is public work from roughly $15M to $100M, with a sweet spot around $30–40M PLA projects.

·       We have invested heavily in a defined, repeatable estimating process and modern tooling (including AI-assisted bid review), and we are building the estimating function to win more, not to tread water. 

Who We’re Looking For:

1.      Owns the process: Runs a bid start to finish without hand-holding — Go/No-Go through coverage, pricing, bid day, and post-bid. Self-directed and accountable; supplies the drive rather than waiting to be handed tasks. 

2.      New Jersey public-GC experience: Real public lumpsum bidding under NJ Local Public Contracts Law: listed subcontractors, bid and performance bonds, consent of surety, prevailing wage, DPMC where applicable.

3.      Brings a book: An active, current New Jersey subcontractor network across the major trades — MEP, steel, foundation/civil/structure, and envelope that they will use to drive real coverage immediately. 

Strong Pluses:

·       $30M+ PLA public-project experience and a verifiable track record of winning competitive public bids. 

·       Relationship-first coverage: gets subs on the phone and drives three to five real numbers per major trade, not a spreadsheet-only operator. 

·       Some public experience in Rockland, Westchester, or Orange County, NY is a plus – We are entering that market, but New Jersey remains the priority. 

·       Some private / commercial work and contacts in that field is a plus

·       Comfort working inside a defined process and with modern estimating / AI tooling. 

·       Ability to anchor and mentor a small estimating team and set the standard in the room.
