Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Purchasing & Materials Manager

Responsible for material planning, supplier management, and purchasing of raw materials and components supporting lock assembly, steel fabrication, electronic assembly, custom fabrication, and safe assembly operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and develop new suppliers while maintaining strong relationships with existing vendors.
  • Negotiate pricing, supply contracts, and blanket purchase orders.
  • Develop Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs to reduce inventory and material handling costs.
  • Develop material requirements plans based on production schedules to minimize shortages and excess inventory.
  • Meet cost-savings goals through negotiated pricing, direct-to-stock programs, waste reduction, and lead-time improvements.
  • Monitor supplier quality and on-time delivery, targeting 99%+ performance.
  • Review and complete Corrective Action Requests (CARs).
  • Review and execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Maintain accurate system costs and resolve vendor payment issues.
  • Perform part and product cost analysis.
  • Support annual physical inventory planning and execution.
  • Identify and implement continuous process improvements.
  • Participate in department cross-training and process documentation.
  • Travel occasionally for supplier meetings and off-site activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of purchasing/materials management experience in manufacturing, OR
  • 5+ years of purchasing/materials management experience in manufacturing.
  • Manufacturing purchasing and supplier management experience.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Experience with investment castings and hard-tooled products.
  • Experience with part/product cost analysis and supplier negotiations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with employees at all levels.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass physical and drug screening.
  • Acceptable background and credit history.
  • Occasional travel required.

Work Environment: Approximately 90% office-based with occasional off-site work and supplier visits.
