HR Generalist (Bilingual English/Spanish)
Location: Chicago Area
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday
About the Role
We are seeking a Bilingual HR Generalist (English/Spanish) to join our Human Resources team. This role provides administrative and operational support across a variety of HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations support, benefits administration, HRIS management, payroll/timekeeping support, and general HR administration.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, professional, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment supporting employees across warehouse, distribution, transportation, food production, and office operations.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Administration
- Provide daily administrative support to the HR Department.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and personnel files.
- Enter and update employee information within the HRIS system.
- Assist with HR reporting, audits, spreadsheets, and special projects.
- Support broader HR initiatives while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Assist with job postings, candidate communications, and interview scheduling.
- Prepare new hire paperwork and onboarding materials.
- Support new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
- Process and verify employee information in HR systems.
- Assist with employee separation and offboarding processes.
Employee Relations & Bilingual Support
- Provide English/Spanish translation and communication support.
- Assist with communicating HR policies, procedures, forms, and company notices.
- Provide translation support during meetings as needed.
- Schedule meetings and prepare supporting documentation.
- Escalate employee concerns and sensitive matters to HR leadership.
- Maintain professionalism, neutrality, and confidentiality when translating.
Payroll & Timekeeping
- Audit employee timecards for accuracy, including attendance, missed punches, overtime, and pay-related discrepancies.
- Communicate timekeeping issues to supervisors and managers for correction.
- Assist with payroll audits and payroll-related recordkeeping.
Benefits Administration
- Support benefit enrollments and employee benefit changes.
- Provide employees with benefit forms and general information.
- Maintain accurate benefits records and assist with audits.
- Refer complex benefit questions to the appropriate HR representative.
HRIS & Data Management
- Maintain employee data within HRIS systems.
- Run standard reports and assist with HR audits.
- Manage electronic HR documentation and records.
- Assist with data collection and additional HR projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Fluent in both English and Spanish (written and verbal).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn and utilize HRIS and timekeeping systems.
- Dependable, professional, and able to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Previous HR, administrative, or customer service experience.
- Experience with HRIS and timekeeping systems.
- Experience with UKG Pro and UKG Workforce Management (Dimensions).
- Experience in manufacturing, food production, distribution, transportation, or warehouse environments.
- Professional translation or interpretation experience.
Work Environment
This position operates in a fast-paced environment supporting office and operational teams. The role requires regular interaction with employees, supervisors, and management across multiple departments.
