Job Description
Electrical Engineer | Medical Robotics
12-Month+ Contract | 1st Shift | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Our client, a global leader in the medical device industry, is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to support the development of a next-generation surgical robotic platform.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on PCBA design, Altium, system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and product development. You will work closely with Software, Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical design and development for a major robotic subsystem.
- Translate system requirements into electrical requirements, interfaces, and designs.
- Develop complex PCBAs, including schematics, component selection, layout reviews, and board bring-up.
- Design and support rigid, flex, and rigid-flex boards using Altium.
- Perform hardware characterization, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
- Integrate electrical hardware with embedded software, mechanical systems, and system-level requirements.
- Lead technical decisions related to performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and risk.
- Develop verification and EMC/EMI test strategies and support external testing.
- Support design documentation, risk management, design transfer, and commercialization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of professional electrical engineering experience.
- Advanced PCBA design experience, including schematic design, component selection, layout review, board bring-up, and debugging.
- Proficiency with Altium.
- Experience with rigid, flex, and/or rigid-flex PCB designs.
- Experience integrating electrical hardware with software and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI design, testing, troubleshooting, and design for manufacturability.
- Experience developing complex electromechanical, robotic, medical device, or technically sophisticated products.
- Experience taking products from requirements and concept through verification, design transfer, and commercialization.
- Medical device experience with design controls, risk management, IEC 60601, and/or Design History File documentation preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
