Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Job Summary
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a vital role in providing therapeutic services to patients under the supervision of an occupational therapist. The COTA focuses on helping individuals achieve independence in daily living and work activities, enhancing their overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans as directed by the occupational therapist.
- Support patients in understanding and performing therapeutic exercises and activities.
- Monitor and document patients' progress, reporting changes or concerns to the occupational therapist.
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques and exercises to promote recovery.
- Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment, ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized and maintained.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient care.
- Must be a licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently when needed.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and current practices in occupational therapy.
The COTA will work in various settings, including clinics, hospitals, and rehabilitation facilities. The position may require interaction with patients of diverse backgrounds and varying needs.
