Heavy Equipment Shop Technician I

JOB SUMMARY:

The Equipment Shop Technician I will be responsible for performing level one PMs and assist in

other repair and maintenance work. Responsible for shop cleaning and maintenance for shop

safety.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Able to perform Oil Changes and engine services.

• Ability to be directed by shop supervision to complete necessary maintenance.

• Ability to be directed by Level 2 and 3 Technicians to complete tasks.

• Ability to operate shop machinery, including forklifts with proper certification.

• Required to take necessary training and follow company policy.

• Ability to take on tasks with direction and communicate when needing assistance.

• Capable of applying training skills when performing tasks.

• Ability to conduct inspections as directed.

• Ability to conduct simple tasks with minimal supervision.

• Ability to be trained and operate heavy equipment safely as needed.

• Utilize a wide range of hand and power tools.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.

On-the-job training.

Basic tools recommended.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:

• Work with other technicians.

• Work with hoists and a wide range of hand and power tools.

• Work within standards of accuracy.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to noise, dust,

fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges.

Ability to work outside and in all types of weather and temperature conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Manual dexterity, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.

• Frequent climbing stairs/ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and

crouching.

• Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures.

• Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents.

• Hearing capacity to receive, perceive, and react to common construction environment auditory

stimuli.

• Lifting and/or exerting of force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of lifting/force

frequently, and up to 10 pounds of lifting/force constantly to move objects; and

• Frequent driving of mobile equipment.
