Position Overview
Georgia State University's Instructional Innovation and Technology (IIT) Division is seeking an experienced Event Engineer, Intermediate to join our Learning and Production Environments team. This role assists with the design, upgrade, maintenance and operations of event and live production environments for Georgia State University and IIT. This role supports the interactions between technical support issues, design best practices, and customer requirements. The Event Engineer should understand the complex issues that surround the design and implementation of event systems and production environments and stay abreast of emerging technologies.
The Event Engineer, Intermediate must understand live production, broadcast audio, video workflow technologies, and networking concepts. In addition to ensuring all event and live stream systems are properly configured and supported, this individual will assist with communication between multiple University and some external group involved in the complex task of producing events and live streams in IIT-supported venues at Georgia State University. The Event Engineer, Intermediate must possess intermediate Internet Protocol (IP) networking skills and knowledge and experience with broadcast, video and audio routers, Dante audio, digital video and audio distribution and switching, NDI connected video cameras, camera maintenance, intercom systems, and NDI workflow.
Key Responsibilities
Audio Visual Technology
* Command advanced event audio, video, and networking technologies including Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) video camera operation and maintenance, video and audio switching and routing, communications systems, and NDI connectivity, operation, and configuration.
Event Technology Planning
* Contribute to the discussion of holistic design principles within event and production environments, including the convergence of technology and environmental solutions for live events and events best practices.
Systems Maintenance
* Coordinate installation, preventive maintenance, operation, expansion, and upgrades of production and event environments with major campus groups, such as University Events and Facilities Management.
Technology Innovation and Integration
* Research, develop, and integrate new event and live production technologies to enhance interoperability of systems, streamline operations, and ensure high-quality live productions and events.
Event Engineering and Operations
* Act as event engineer at university events and other live productions as directed.
* Possess engineering and operational knowledge in all associated systems to enable reliability of service and rapid return to service in the event of failure.
Campus Partnerships and Communication
* Assist the Executive Producer in maintaining relationships and communicating effectively with Public Relations and Marketing and Communications University Events, Student Center Event Management, and other campus groups.
Equipment Management
* Oversee the setup, maintenance, and operational condition of all event and live stream production equipment.
* Report to engineering or executive producer any issues that need to be addressed.

Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Three or more years working in event or production environments
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Advanced knowledge and experience with:
o DANTE digital audio, NDI workflow, and IP communication technologies
Experience maintaining live or event production environments.

Georgia State University offers a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The posted salary range represents the minimum to midpoint of the position's established pay grade.
