Defense Project Manager


Location: Moorpark, CA
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Schedule: 4/10 Work Schedule

Salary: $85,000 - $95,000


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Defense Project Manager to lead government contracting and proposal activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for identifying federal contract opportunities, managing proposal submissions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the continued growth of defense-related business.


Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue federal and Department of Defense contract opportunities.
  • Manage activities through government procurement systems including SAM.gov, DLA DIBBS, and PIEE.
  • Lead the preparation, submission, and tracking of government proposals and bids.
  • Interpret and apply FAR and DFARS requirements to contracts and proposals.
  • Maintain compliance with ITAR, NIST 800-171, CMMC, and other applicable regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for government contracting officers and agencies.
  • Coordinate with internal departments including Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Executive Leadership.
  • Manage DD2345/JCP requirements and military technical data compliance.
  • Support contract execution, reporting, and customer communications.
  • Train and mentor team members on government contracting best practices.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of federal government contracting experience.
  • Strong understanding of Department of Defense procurement processes.
  • Experience with government proposal development and contract administration.
  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, ITAR, CMMC, and NIST 800-171 requirements.
  • Experience using SAM.gov, DLA DIBBS, and related government procurement platforms.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in an ITAR-regulated environment.
