Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners as a Developmental Cognitive Disabilities Teacher in a supportive elementary school setting. Seeking a passionate educator to work with students in kindergarten through second grade, creating inclusive and engaging learning experiences. This full-time contract position runs from the end of February through early June 2027 and offers the opportunity to work closely with a caseload of approximately 10 students in a collaborative environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience or specialized knowledge in supporting students with developmental cognitive disabilities
- Strong instructional skills tailored to diverse learning needs
- Familiarity with IEP development and progress monitoring
- Effective communication abilities with students, families, and team members
- Organizational talent for managing a dynamic classroom environment
- Dedication to fostering a positive and nurturing classroom culture
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver targeted instruction for K-2 students with developmental cognitive disabilities
- Collaborate with paraeducators, related service staff, and families to support student growth
- Develop and implement IEPs aligned with students’ unique learning goals
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
- Encourage social, emotional, and academic development through individualized supports
- Maintain documentation and comply with all state and federal special education requirements
- Participate in professional development and contribute to a team-oriented atmosphere
