Job Description
Put your passion for special education to work in a contract role supporting young learners in the Manhattan Beach area! Two full-time opportunities are available for experienced Special Education Teachers who thrive making a difference for students with moderate to severe needs. Start ASAP and help shape the academic year through June 10th, 2027.
Bring your enthusiasm, commitment, and expertise to a supportive educational environment. You’ll help deliver life-changing instruction to two Specialized Day Classes (SDC) with manageable caseloads of just five to six students each. One class will serve transitional kindergarten and first grade, while the other includes grades two through five.
Qualifications:
- Active California credential in Moderate/Severe Special Education (required)
- Previous teaching experience in a moderate/severe setting preferred
- Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student
- Team-player mindset to collaborate with staff, therapists, and families
- Passion for helping students flourish both academically and emotionally
What You’ll Do:
- Design and deliver engaging lessons that meet diverse learning needs
- Support and guide students in achieving their IEP goals
- Utilize specialized strategies and resources to foster academic growth
- Maintain open and effective communication with families and other educators
- Ensure a safe and nurturing classroom atmosphere
- Track and report student progress, adapting instruction as necessary
