Burner

Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Burners for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

Four years of experience using burning equipment on metal structures.

Candidates will be required to pass a Burner qualification test.

1. Operate hand torches and burning machines to produce high-quality cuts 2. Determine proper tooling for each job, including choice of torch tip size and fuel flow settings 3. Interface with fellow shipbuilders, other trades, and ship management to ensure project success 4. Proficient in the use of bevel gauges, squares, and rulers to establish precision machine setups 5. Work safely with a high degree of accuracy to produce final cuts 6. Use vibratory tools (grinders and needle guns).

7. Experience working in a physically demanding environment (shipbuilding, steel fabrication, etc.).

8. Air Carbon Arc Gouging.

* PPE training means general requirements, eye and face protection, head protection, foot protection, hand and body protection, hearing protection, and body harness-personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) and position device systems.

BASE PAY IS $38/HOUR; A $10/HOUR STIPEND IS ADDED FOR NON-LOCAL EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE PROOF RESIDENCE OVER 75 MILES
