Job Description
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and 1+ years Pharmacy Technician experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A growing outpatient retail pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support medication dispensing and pharmacy operations with a focus on accuracy and patient safety. This contract-to-hire opportunity is based in Des Plaines, IL, and offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process medication orders and prescriptions, ensuring accurate packaging and dispensing of dosage forms.
- Utilize the Pioneer RX system to manage medication storage, preparation, labeling, and distribution in compliance with health system policies.
- Assist pharmacists with patient, physician, and nursing education materials.
- Retrieve and communicate current and relevant drug information for pharmacists.
- Collect and evaluate patient-specific data to support pharmacists in optimizing pharmacotherapy, including IV to oral conversions, renal dosing adjustments, allergy screening, and formulary compliance.
- Support clinical processes by gathering pharmacokinetic data and calculating creatinine clearance to design safe and effective therapeutic regimens.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacy technician experience.
- Prior experience working in a hospital outpatient pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with processing pharmacy insurance claims.
- Valid Illinois pharmacy technician license.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
