Job Description

Sonographer / Ultrasound Technician (Echo / Vascular) – Kingman, AZ

If you are a sonographer who wants to spend the day doing the scanning you trained for — echocardiograms and vascular studies — on a Monday-through-Friday daytime schedule with no hospital call, this outpatient role in Kingman was written for you.

Overview & Highlights:

  • Location: Kingman, AZ — a northwestern Arizona community in Mohave County, within easy reach of Lake Havasu, Flagstaff, Las Vegas, and the western Grand Canyon
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Compensation: $40–$50 per hour, depending on experience
  • Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; paid time off, sick time, and paid holidays
  • Work Setting: Outpatient primary care clinic
  • On-Site Status: On-site in Kingman, AZ
  • Position Type: Full-time, direct-hire employee role — one opening

Location & Logistics:

  • Work Environment: Clinic-based diagnostic imaging — echocardiography and vascular ultrasound for an outpatient primary care patient population
  • Department or Team: You work alongside physicians, NPs and PAs, and clinical support staff, with your findings going directly to the ordering provider
  • Patient-Facing Responsibilities: Nearly all of the role — you prepare, position, scan, and reassure patients through every study
  • Systems / EMR: Procedures, images, and results are documented in the practice's EMR; the specific platform is reviewed during the interview process
  • Travel: Not specified for this position; reviewed during the interview process
  • Reporting Structure: Reviewed during the interview process

About the Opportunity / A Day in the Life:

We are hiring an experienced echo and vascular technologist for our outpatient clinic in Kingman. Your day is built around diagnostic imaging: echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound examinations ordered by the providers who already know these patients and manage their ongoing care.

Most of your time is hands-on. You greet each patient, explain what the study involves, position them comfortably, and acquire the images the interpreting provider needs — clean, complete, and consistent with protocol. Between studies you document findings in the chart, keep your equipment calibrated and ready, and make sure anything that looks urgent reaches a provider promptly rather than waiting in a queue.

Because this is an outpatient clinic rather than a hospital department, the rhythm is predictable: scheduled studies, a known patient population, weekdays, days only. The variety comes from the imaging itself — cardiac structure and function in one appointment, a venous or arterial study in the next.

You will not be the only person in the building who cares about study quality, but you will be the person who owns it. That ownership is the point of the role.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • A Monday–Friday, 8-to-5 schedule with no hospital call and no weekend rotation
  • A genuinely mixed cardiac and vascular caseload, so your skills stay sharp across both
  • Outpatient scheduling, which means a predictable day and far fewer interruptions than a hospital imaging department
  • Your studies go straight to the providers who know these patients, so you see how your imaging changes their care
  • A clear scope — you are the imaging expert in the clinic, not a float covering five modalities
  • Mentorship, continued-growth opportunities, and a team that marks the wins rather than letting them pass

What We're Looking For:

  • At least one year of professional experience as a sonographer
  • At least ten months of that experience performing cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound examinations
  • Real proficiency in both echocardiography and vascular imaging — this role scans both
  • Strong working knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Someone patients relax around: clear explanations, unhurried positioning, and respect for comfort and privacy
  • Dependable and detail-driven, with the discipline to follow protocol on every single study

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic echocardiography and vascular ultrasound examinations according to established clinical protocols
  • Prepare patients for their examinations, explain each procedure, and keep them comfortable and safe throughout
  • Acquire high-quality diagnostic images of cardiac and vascular structures
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment in line with safety and performance standards
  • Review imaging studies and document findings accurately for provider interpretation
  • Record procedures, images, and results promptly and accurately in the EMR
  • Follow established quality-control protocols so image quality stays consistent
  • Recognize abnormal findings and ensure they are documented and communicated appropriately
  • Maintain accurate patient and procedural records
  • Stay current with advances in echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, and diagnostic imaging technology
  • Follow all applicable patient safety, infection control, privacy, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with physicians, NPs and PAs, clinical staff, and the wider care team

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of professional experience as a sonographer
  • At least ten months of clinical experience performing cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound examinations
  • Proficiency in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound imaging
  • State licensure and/or professional certification as required for the role (RDMS or an equivalent sonography credential)
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot diagnostic ultrasound equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality diagnostic images
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team
  • Availability for an on-site, Monday–Friday daytime schedule in Kingman, AZ

Preferred Background:

  • Credentialing across both cardiac and vascular sonography (for example RDCS or RCS alongside RVT)
  • Prior experience in an outpatient or clinic-based imaging setting
  • Experience documenting studies and results in an electronic health record
  • Comfort acting as the primary sonographer for a site, with limited on-site imaging peers
  • Exposure to a primary care or cardiology referral population

This Role Is Likely a Fit If You…

  • Want a daytime, Monday-through-Friday schedule you can plan a life around
  • Enjoy scanning both hearts and vessels and have no interest in giving up either
  • Take real pride in image quality and would rather repeat a view than submit a soft one
  • Like being the person a clinic depends on for its imaging
  • Prefer a steady outpatient rhythm to hospital-style unpredictability

This Role May Not Be a Fit If You…

  • Are looking for inpatient or high-acuity hospital imaging work
  • Have strong general abdominal or OB scanning experience but little cardiac or vascular imaging
  • Want night, weekend, or per-diem flexibility rather than a fixed weekday schedule
  • Expect someone else to handle equipment troubleshooting and quality control
  • Are not able to work on-site in Kingman, AZ

Why Join Us:

We are a community-focused outpatient practice, and prevention is the whole point of our work: catch things early, manage them well, and keep people out of the hospital. Cardiovascular imaging sits right at the center of that, which is why this position matters more here than the title suggests.

You will join a collaborative clinical team that supports its people, invests in mentorship, and keeps the schedule humane. If you are ready to bring your echocardiography and vascular imaging expertise to a patient-focused outpatient setting in Kingman, AZ, we would like to hear from you. Please apply with your most current resume or CV — cover letters and professional references are welcome but not required.
