Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract role as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in dedicated SDC classrooms. This position begins ASAP and runs through June 10th, 2027, offering full-time, weekday hours in an engaging school environment close to Los Angeles. Two positions are available, each serving a caseload of 5-6 students: one with TK-1 and the other with grades 2-5. You’ll collaborate with a passionate educational team to create an inclusive and nurturing atmosphere for students with moderate to severe needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Active California Moderate/Severe Special Education teaching credential (required)
- Prior experience working with students in moderate to severe SDC settings is strongly preferred
- Thorough understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
- Ability to craft and adapt individualized lesson plans for diverse learning styles
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and structured classroom environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and colleagues
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver developmentally appropriate instruction to small groups of students in an SDC setting
- Plan, implement, and monitor IEP goals tailored to each student’s abilities
- Employ evidence-based strategies and interventions to support social, behavioral, and academic growth
- Coordinate with related service providers, grade-level teams, and families to ensure consistent student support
- Maintain ongoing records and effectively report on student progress
- Participate in professional development and school meetings as required
