Job Description
CAD NX Designer Needed for Fermi National Laboratory
Our client, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, located in Batavia, Illinois, near Chicago, is a United States Department of Energy national laboratory specializing in high-energy particle physics. The experienced designer will operate under limited supervision to prepare mechanical designs and drawings utilizing NX1980 and Teamcenter, correctly applying the ASME Y14.5-M-1994 (or higher) GD&T standard.
Work hours: 40 hours per week. 7am –5m
8 hour work day at a PC workstation. 5 days a week.
Project Length: One (1) year. Project can be extended.
Worksite Location: Batavia, IL Worksite is a federal facility. An unexpired REAL ID or Unexpired USA passport is REQUIRED to enter the Fermi site.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design tolerance and stack up calculations, layout designs, detailing, advanced level 3D models, and 2D drawings required for the project.
- Use Design/Drafting procedures to complete work that meets project schedules & requirements. Specify and select design components and materials.
- 3D models and 2D drawings are completed in NX1980, managed in Team Center.
- Work directly with the engineering staff working on the projects to research and analyze design solutions and coordinate design development.
- Ensure designs and drawings are accurate and completed promptly according to the assigned tasks.
- Quality Assurance: Performed in accordance with Fermilab QAM and APS-TD and Design/Drafting Procedures. All work will be reviewed & approved by designated Fermilab staff.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Demonstrate acceptable proficiency in NX1980 during a video interview on ZOOM.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with using NX with Teamcenter
- Minimum of a 5 years of experience as designer.
- Create 3D CAD models using advanced features.
- Create 2D drawings using GD&T with proper applications.
- Deliver quality work products on deadline-driven projects.
