Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts (shift start 6:45 AM/PM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Neuro ICU at a 1:1–2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKG strips; manage patients on ventilators
• Care for patients presenting with CVA, intracranial bleeds, neuro surgeries, craniotomies, neuro interventional radiology procedures, and ventriculostomies; perform and assist with line insertions
• Deliver bedside shift report and participate in self-scheduling; expected to rotate every other weekend and rotate holidays with core staff
• Collaborate with in-house Hospitalist/Intensivist, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), and Pharmacy (24/7) teams
• May be required to float to sister facilities; mid-shift float to another facility is rare but possible

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips and manage ventilated patients
• Must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any associated CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered)
• Must complete and pass a required competency exam prior to contract signing; candidates receive two attempts to score 80% or higher

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Neuro ICU setting
• Experience with stroke programs and neuro-interventional patient populations
• Charge nurse experience is a plus
