About this job
Job Description
At our state-of-the-art facility in Stoughton, WI 53589, your morning begins on the production floor—controllers humming, robots at the ready. You’ll run quick PLC health checks, scan electrical schematics to validate overnight changes, and respond to a line call to diagnose a stubborn sensor fault. By midday, you’re collaborating with engineering to roll out a small controls upgrade, documenting each parameter tweak. The afternoon brings a test of a new control strategy on a pilot cell, followed by a careful review of safety interlocks. You wrap up by logging maintenance actions and preparing a concise handoff to the next shift—systems stable, improvements in motion.
What You’ll Do- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in control systems and production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation and control hardware/software.
- Partner with engineering teams to plan and implement system upgrades and process improvements.
- Thoroughly document maintenance activity, changes to programs, and system configurations.
- Assist with the design, development, and testing of new control strategies prior to deployment.
- Provide timely technical support to production teams on the floor.
- Uphold safety protocols and applicable industry standards in all work.
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, or a closely related field.
- Hands-on experience as a Controls Technician (or equivalent automation role).
- Solid grasp of control systems, PLCs, and modern automation technologies.
- Strong problem-solving ability with keen attention to detail.
- Comfort working independently as well as within cross-functional teams.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to adjust hours as operating needs require.
Bring depth across electrical, controls, and automation domains. The following capabilities are central to the role:
- PLC troubleshooting proficiency and PLC programming experience.
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics; electrical schematic reading expertise.
- General troubleshooting skill across industrial automation equipment.
- Machine building and assembly exposure.
- Knowledge of single-phase and three-phase power distribution.
- Familiarity with 120/208/240/480 VAC systems and high-voltage environments.
- Experience with CNC machine installation.
- Industrial robot programming fundamentals.
- Electrical installation practices (including conduit pulling and conduit bending).
- Programming of machine vision systems.
- Pneumatics troubleshooting capability.
- Demonstrated industrial electrical experience and work with industrial electrical systems.
- Field service readiness when onsite support is required.
- Background in heavy equipment electrical systems and diagnostics.
- Understanding of access control systems.
If you thrive in a dynamic setting and love solving complex automation challenges, you’ll find meaningful impact here—keeping cutting-edge systems running reliably while shaping the next round of improvements.
