  • 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours per week
Position Overview

We are seeking a Surgical Support Aide – Instrument Picking to support surgical and procedural operations through accurate instrument picking, case cart preparation, scanning, inventory tracking, and restocking.

The ideal candidate will have previous case cart experience and strong attention to detail. This position plays an important role in ensuring that surgical instruments and supplies are accurately prepared and available for scheduled procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pick and prepare surgical instruments and supplies for surgical and procedural cases.
  • Prepare and organize case carts according to scheduled procedures.
  • Ensure all required instruments and supplies are available and properly arranged.
  • Scan trays, instruments, and supplies into the appropriate case carts for accurate tracking.
  • Review case cart pick lists and identify missing instruments or supplies.
  • Locate missing items using designated storage and bin locations.
  • Restock case carts with required instruments and supplies.
  • Arrange completed case carts in the appropriate sequence according to scheduled surgery times.
  • Scan and return instruments and supplies from storage shelves to their designated locations.
  • Assist with restocking returned supplies and materials as needed.
  • Maintain accurate instrument and supply tracking to support patient safety and infection prevention.
  • Follow facility requirements regarding surgical scrubs, hairnets, shoe covers, and other protective attire.
  • Return used scrubs to the designated linen hamper at the end of the shift.
  • Report to the designated supervisor upon arrival and follow daily assignments and instructions.
  • Follow all applicable facility safety, hygiene, infection-control, and workplace policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous case cart experience – Required
  • Previous experience with surgical instrument picking or surgical supply preparation preferred.
  • Ability to accurately identify, organize, pick, scan, and track surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical services environment.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, instructions, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to comply with facility dress code, hygiene, and infection-control requirements.
