CT Technologist

As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for producing computerized tomography scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas under the medical supervision of certified radiologists. This role includes assisting radiologists with procedures and overseeing student Radiologic Technologists assigned to you while ensuring patient safety and quality customer relations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide patient care and safety during imaging procedures, ensuring age-appropriate care and following established protocols. Efficiently manage time to fulfill patient care assignments, assist in clinically educating student technologists, and obtain written orders for procedures. (40%)
• Utilize imaging equipment effectively, focusing on minimizing repeat examinations and emphasizing cost containment in the use of supplies. (20%)
• Instruct and prepare patients for imaging procedures, assist in obtaining informed consent, and ensure patients understand the procedure. Communicate discharge instructions to family members and respond sensitively to the needs of all customers. (10%)
• Ensure accurate entry of orders, diagnosis, and clinical history into the computer system. Maintain effective verbal and written communication with radiologists while presenting a positive demeanor. (10%)
• Adhere to hospital, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Practice good radiation protection in alignment with established guidelines and complete annual mandatory in-services while maintaining required licensure. (10%)
• Assist fellow team members and clerical staff to maintain records, reports, and files. Show flexibility and accountability in job duties and actively seek to improve departmental operations. (10%)

Work Environment:

This position involves frequent standing, walking, and lifting/moving patients, with the potential for lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs. You will need to utilize hand dexterity and reach frequently, while also engaging in active communication with patients and team members. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and radiation is common, requiring adherence to safety protocols in a healthcare environment.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals, as well as completion of an accredited Computed Tomography Program, preferred.
• Experience: One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Registration in Radiologic Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or current certification in Radiography from SCRQSA. ARRT registration in CT preferred. Must possess a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to perform and teach CT exams to produce satisfactory diagnostic images
• Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations
• Ability to operate standard office equipment
