Machinist

Our client, in Clare MI is seeking a Machinist 1 and Machinist II to join their team. As a Machinist I or Machinist II, you will be part of the Manufacturing team supporting production operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to quality, hands-on machining expertise, and the drive to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.

Job Title: Machinist

Location: Clare, MI

Pay Range:
Machinist I - $19 - $23 an hour (depending on experience)
Machinist II - $23 - $28 an hour (depending on expereince)

Shift:
Machinist I - 4 pm to 2 am
Machinist II - 6 am to 4 pm

What's the Job?

• Set up and operate conventional, CNC, and special purpose machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
• Train co-workers to use and/or program machining equipment when necessary. (Machinist II)
• Recommend tooling, new fixtures, and process improvements to increase machining efficiency and quality.
• Read and interpret blueprints, utilize work orders and QC packets, and perform required deburring and quality checks before parts move to the next operation.
• Verify work using machinist measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and maintain tight tolerances to engineering and customer specifications.

What's Needed?

• Machinist I - 6 months to 1 year related experience and or training.
• Machinist II - Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 2-5+ years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with machine setup and operation, including CNC, milling, boring, drilling, tapping, threading, and lathes.
• Ability to program and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut (with training from Machinist 2 as applicable).
• Knowledge of machining quality practices, including using QC packets and performing measurements to confirm specifications.
• Willingness to support a clean and safe work environment, including periodic maintenance on equipment and proper handling of cutting tools and drill bits.
