The Staff Pad is proud to partner with a respected healthcare organization in Breckenridge, TX to recruit an experienced Ambulatory Care Services Director to lead clinical operations, support nursing teams, and promote high-quality patient care across the department

This role provides leadership and oversight for Ambulatory Care Services, with responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising departmental activities while supporting staff, maintaining operational efficiency, and achieving quality patient outcomes.

Schedule

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Nursing Administration on-call duties

Occasional schedule flexibility may be required to support staff across shifts and departmental needs

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and performance evaluation of nursing and support staff
  • Determine staffing needs based on patient acuity, patient volume, staff competency, and skill mix
  • Collaborate with nursing units and hospital departments to coordinate patient care and operational needs
  • Promote continuity of care by ensuring effective communication of patient information and expected outcomes between shifts
  • Ensure compliance with safety, fire, emergency, universal precaution, and isolation procedures
  • Promote and protect patient rights while serving as a dedicated patient advocate
  • Delegate responsibilities based on staff competency, qualifications, and scope of practice while providing effective oversight
  • Monitor staffing trends and implement adjustments to maintain appropriate staffing levels and quality patient outcomes
  • Foster positive relationships and collaboration across nursing units and hospital departments
  • Develop, manage, and maintain the departmental budget
  • Train and educate staff on equipment, emergency preparedness, hospital policies, Board of Nursing requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, recognize achievements, and support ongoing professional development
  • Partner with the Chief Nursing Officer and serve as an active member of the Nursing Administration Team
  • Direct emergency procedures and provide nursing support to other units, including routine care, admissions, and discharges, when needed
  • Serve as an administrator in the absence of designated leadership and participate in decisions related to the selection, promotion, and termination of nursing personnel

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with hospital policies and applicable regulations
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Promote the hospital’s mission, vision, and values
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive environment for patients and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer or Chief Executive Officer

What We’re Looking For

Education, Experience, Licensure & Certifications

  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Current RN license with the Texas Board of Nursing
  • 2+ years of perioperative nursing experience preferred
    • Relevant experience preferred; candidates with varying experience levels are welcome
  • Electronic Health Record experience preferred
  • BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers certification required within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS and PALS certifications required within 90 days of hire
  • Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum (TNCC) certification required within 6 months of hire

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong clinical judgment, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, coworkers, and healthcare professionals; Spanish-speaking skills preferred
  • Proficiency with computers, email, internet applications, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks and provide direction and supervision to licensed and non-licensed staff
  • Ability to manage staffing needs while maintaining quality patient care and safety
  • Ability to remain professional and compassionate in challenging or high-stress situations
  • Ability to communicate confidently in meetings, presentations, and other professional settings
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of a healthcare environment, including lifting and moving equipment (30-150 pounds)or assisting with patient care as needed
  • Ability to work safely in an environment where exposure to occupational hazards may occur
