Registered Nurse II, Emergency Department (AHCL)

Job Summary

Defines the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform successfully as a Registered Nurse II in the Emergency Department, reporting to the Director of Emergency Department. Provides care to child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Education & Experience

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing: Required
• At least one year of Registered Nurse experience within the last 24 months and acute critical care experience within the last 12 months, or EMT and ED Tech with a minimum of 2 years of experience in good standing: Required

Licenses & Certifications

• Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of California: Required
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification: Required

Key Responsibilities

• Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments per policy across pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
• Monitors hemodynamic status of patients and correctly interprets the results.
• Prepares, administers, monitors and discontinues IV fluids.
• Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
• Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses and assessment of changes.
• Handles emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner.
