Step into a senior leadership role with a respected, growth-focused mechanical contractor. We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager with a strong background in commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP construction who enjoys travel, leading teams, and managing complex projects from preconstruction through completion.
About the RoleAs a Traveling Senior Mechanical Project Manager, you will oversee large-scale mechanical construction projects across multiple states and locations. You will work with general contractors, owners, engineers, architects, subcontractors, vendors, and field leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout.
- Manage HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other MEP scopes.
- Lead Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, manpower plans, procurement, and milestones.
- Monitor project costs, labor, materials, billing, forecasting, and financial performance.
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, change orders, contracts, and project documentation.
- Coordinate mechanical work with contractors, owners, engineers, architects, and other trades.
- Identify project risks and implement strategies to protect schedule, budget, quality, and profitability.
- Resolve field issues, design conflicts, material delays, change orders, and other project challenges.
- Maintain strong client, subcontractor, and vendor relationships.
- Ensure work meets contract documents, applicable codes, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Travel regularly to active project sites and provide leadership across multiple locations.
- Support commissioning, turnover, punch list, and final closeout.
- Significant experience in mechanical construction project management, preferably with a mechanical contractor.
- Strong experience managing commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, or MEP projects.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale or complex mechanical projects.
- Experience leading project teams, field leadership, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Strong knowledge of scheduling, estimating, budgeting, procurement, contract administration, and cost control.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar scheduling software.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Strong financial, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including extended stays when required.
- Valid driver's license.
- $10M+ commercial mechanical construction projects.
- Mission-critical, data center, healthcare, semiconductor, higher education, industrial, or hospitality construction.
- Projects across multiple states or geographic regions.
- Design-build, design-assist, negotiated, or GMP construction.
- Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, or similar platforms.
- Commissioning and turnover of complex mechanical systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive mechanical construction project management experience preferred.
- PMP, CCM, or other relevant certification is a plus.
- OSHA, safety, scheduling, or project management certifications are advantageous.
