Job Description

Mergers & Acquisitions Manager

KKH – Schaumburg, IL
Full-Time | Hybrid – 3 Days In Office / 2 Days Remote
Salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year

Position Overview

KKH is seeking an experienced, hands-on Mergers & Acquisitions Manager to support the company's acquisition activities and work closely with the M&A professionals involved throughout the transaction process.

This role will support the full acquisition lifecycle, including deal sourcing, target evaluation, transaction execution, due diligence, closing readiness, and post-acquisition integration.

The M&A Manager will work closely with KKH leadership, M&A professionals, financial analysts, legal counsel, accounting and tax professionals, lenders, business owners, brokers, and other transaction advisors.

We're looking for someone who takes ownership, keeps transactions moving, identifies risks early, and can turn complex financial and transaction information into clear, actionable updates for leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Acquisition Sourcing & Evaluation

  • Identify and source potential acquisition opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of acquisition targets.
  • Develop opportunities through business owners, brokers, M&A advisors, lenders, referral sources, and direct outreach.
  • Research and screen potential targets based on financial, operational, and business information.
  • Prepare target-company profiles and screening summaries.
  • Track sourcing activity, follow-ups, and deal progression.
  • Present qualified opportunities to KKH leadership and M&A professionals.

Transaction Management

  • Coordinate transactions from initial evaluation through closing.
  • Develop and maintain transaction timelines, workplans, diligence trackers, issue logs, and closing schedules.
  • Coordinate activities among leadership, M&A professionals, financial analysts, attorneys, accountants, tax professionals, lenders, and other advisors.
  • Facilitate transaction meetings and drive action items to completion.
  • Monitor deadlines, dependencies, risks, and outstanding items.
  • Identify potential delays or transaction issues and escalate significant matters promptly.

Financial & Transaction Analysis

  • Partner with M&A financial analysts and other professionals to evaluate potential acquisitions.
  • Review financial models, historical performance, projections, assumptions, and transaction economics.
  • Identify financial trends, inconsistencies, risks, and areas requiring additional analysis.
  • Support preparation of transaction summaries, presentations, and internal review materials.
  • Translate financial and transaction information into clear updates for leadership.

Due Diligence & Closing

  • Coordinate financial, legal, tax, operational, technology, HR, compliance, and commercial due diligence.
  • Maintain diligence trackers, open-items lists, responsibilities, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with target-company representatives, internal professionals, and external advisors.
  • Identify and summarize material diligence findings and outstanding risks.
  • Maintain closing-readiness checklists.
  • Track financing requirements, legal documentation, approvals, advisor deliverables, and other closing requirements.
  • Help drive outstanding transaction items through completion.

Post-Acquisition Integration

  • Support post-close integration planning.
  • Develop integration plans with clear responsibilities, milestones, and timelines.
  • Coordinate integration activities across applicable business functions.
  • Track progress, outstanding items, risks, and dependencies.
  • Support leadership and M&A professionals in monitoring post-acquisition priorities.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant M&A experience, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, transaction advisory, investment banking, business brokerage, or another transaction-focused environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting or managing transactions through multiple stages of the M&A lifecycle.
  • Experience with acquisition sourcing, target identification, or deal origination.
  • Experience coordinating due diligence and transaction-closing activities.
  • Experience working with attorneys, accountants, financial analysts, lenders, business owners, brokers, and other transaction professionals.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Ability to review financial information and identify material questions, risks, and inconsistencies.
  • Strong project and transaction-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, virtual data rooms, and transaction/project tracking tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is analytical, proactive, commercially minded, highly organized, and comfortable taking ownership.

If something is outstanding, you don't simply add it to a status report. You determine what's needed, identify who needs to be involved, follow up, and help move the transaction forward.

Strong follow-through is essential. This role requires someone who can manage numerous stakeholders, deadlines, dependencies, and confidential information while keeping transactions organized and progressing.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year

Benefits include:

  • 401(k)
  • Health insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Employee discount

Work Schedule

Full-Time

Hybrid: 3 days per week in the Schaumburg office and 2 days per week working remotely.

Travel: Up to approximately 25% as required for acquisition-related meetings, target-company visits, due diligence, advisor meetings, and other transaction activities.
