Job Title: Material Handler

Job Description

The Warehouse Order Picker plays a key role in supporting hospital operations by accurately pulling, stocking, and delivering medical supplies to various departments. This position ensures that essential items such as gloves, needles, surgical supplies, masks, gowns, and other PPE are available where and when they are needed. The role involves working in the hospitals warehouse and basement storage areas, maintaining inventory levels, and hand-delivering materials to clinical areas throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Pull orders in the hospitals basement warehouse, selecting medical supplies such as gloves, boxes of needles, surgical supplies, masks, gowns, and other PPE according to order requirements.
  • Ensure product is fully stocked in the warehouse by replenishing items once inventory has been picked through or depleted.
  • Walk throughout the hospital to hand-deliver supplies to designated areas, including the emergency department, surgical offices, operating rooms, and other clinical units.
  • Place materials on racks, shelves, bins, or in refrigerated rooms according to a predetermined sequence, such as size, type, style, color, or product code, to maintain organized and efficient storage.
  • Assist with assembling certain parts or supply kits as needed to support hospital procedures and operations.
  • Use a computer system, including EPIC, to accurately input data, track inventory, and document order fulfillment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all hospital and warehouse procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily order picking and delivery goals and support overall department productivity.
  • Follow all PPE and dress code requirements, including wearing a scrub top and additional protective equipment as required in specific hospital areas.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with order pulling and order picking in a warehouse or inventory-focused environment.
  • Ability to manage inventory, including stocking, replenishing, and organizing materials on racks, shelves, bins, and in refrigerated rooms.
  • Comfort working in a team-oriented environment with approximately 20 or more employees on a daily basis.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds throughout the shift on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the full duration of an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to read and write in English to follow instructions, complete documentation, and communicate effectively.
  • Comfort using a computer to input data and navigate systems, including EPIC, for inventory and order tracking.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a hospital, medical supply, or healthcare-related warehouse setting is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with PPE and basic medical supply terminology is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order picking and delivery.
  • Reliable work habits and punctuality to support consistent hospital operations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team across different shifts.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing shift schedules, including potential transitions to TuesdaySaturday or SundayThursday shifts.

Work Environment

The role is based in a hospital warehouse and basement storage area, working closely with a team of approximately 2025 employees during the day. Swing and night shifts operate with about half that team size, creating a close-knit environment across multiple shifts. The position involves frequent walking throughout the hospital to deliver supplies to various departments, including emergency and surgical areas, and working in spaces that may include refrigerated rooms. Team members follow a professional dress code that requires wearing a scrub top and any additional PPE provided, depending on the specific areas of the hospital they enter. The standard schedule is Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the expectation of transitioning to either a TuesdaySaturday or SundayThursday shift as operational needs evolve. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and focused on maintaining safe, organized, and efficient supply operations in support of patient care.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
